Our editorial guidelines
Pages are written in plain South African English. They explain the product, the cost, the risk and the institution that regulates it.
Updated 30 October 2026.
Guides are published in the name of WiT Money. We do not invent a named adviser, and we do not present someone from another country as a South African appointment.
We use, in this order, the law or the official regulator or revenue page, then the provider's own current document. A blog that repeats a figure without a source is not enough for a rand amount.
Accuracy and dates
A claim that depends on a date includes the tax year or the effective date, and the source. PAYE, retirement deductions, VAT and tax-free investment limits come from official figures that have been checked. If a figure has not been checked, the page does not invent one.
South African language
The site says bond, debit order, instalment, medical aid, funeral cover, retirement annuity and tax-free savings account. It does not describe those products with names from another country. Slang is not added for effect.
Regulatory research
A regulator is named for the activity it actually supervises. The Prudential Authority and the Reserve Bank are different from the FSCA. The National Credit Regulator is different from the Council for Medical Schemes. A licence for one activity is not described as approval of every product a brand sells.
Editorial and commercial separation
Whether a provider pays does not decide which risks are explained. A provider who does not pay can still be included. If sponsored material is added later, it will be labelled and kept separate from the comparison order. None is on the site now.
Calculators
Calculators show the arithmetic of the numbers you enter and the tax rules that have been checked. They are not quotations, approvals or forecasts of investment returns. A figure that has not been checked against the law is labelled, rather than presented as the legal rule.
Corrections and conflicts
You can report an error through the corrections page. A risk statement is not removed because a provider dislikes it. If a commercial conflict exists, the page will say so. No paid conflict is in place now.
