Vehicle finance
Compare Vehicle Finance in South Africa
Compare vehicle finance providers in South Africa and understand deposits, repayment terms, interest rates, balloon payments, insurance and the total cost of financing a car.
Approval, the rate and the term depend on the provider's credit and affordability assessment, and on the vehicle. A lower instalment from a balloon is not a cheaper car.

How vehicle finance is usually structured
Most financed cars are bought on an instalment sale. You use the car while you pay. The financier's security is the vehicle, and comprehensive insurance is commonly a condition of the agreement.
A prime-linked rate moves when the bank's prime rate moves. A fixed rate stays as agreed for the period in the contract. Linked interest is a margin against a reference rate. None of those descriptions is a rate you are guaranteed to be offered.
A deposit reduces the amount financed. A balloon, or residual, is the amount still due at the end. The instalment falls because that lump sum is left out of the monthly calculation. You still have to pay it, refinance it, or sell the car and settle the shortfall.
The total amount repayable is the instalments, the balloon, the fees and the interest. The settlement amount, if you pay the agreement off early, is worked out on the contract, not on this page.
Providers checked
Product details were checked on 28 October 2026. A name on a card is not a recommendation and not a quotation. The button opens the lender's homepage.
5 research records. A missing amount or term is not treated as zero or as unlimited. A product stays in the list when the figure you need was not published. Meeting a published threshold does not guarantee approval.

The starting figures are an illustration: R300 000, a R30 000 deposit, 12% a year, 60 months and no balloon. The rate is not a rate from a provider. Insurance is not included. A balloon is shown on its own line so a lower instalment is not mistaken for a lower total.
What sits outside the instalment
Initiation and monthly service fees are quote items. None of them has been entered as R0.
Comprehensive insurance, a tracker where the financier requires one, licensing, fuel, tyres and maintenance are not part of the finance instalment.
A long term, or a large balloon, can leave you owing more than the car is worth if you need to sell early.
The vehicle is the security
If the agreement is not paid, the financier can follow the process in the contract and the National Credit Act to take the vehicle. A sale that does not cover the balance can leave a shortfall.
Absa and MFC are the only vehicle products on this page that mention a balloon. The others do not say there is no balloon. The term was not in the published notes that were checked.
Consumer protection
A credit provider covered by the National Credit Act must assess affordability and give the pre-agreement disclosure for the agreement it offers. This comparison is not that quotation, and it does not approve a bond, a vehicle or a renovation.
NCR registration was not independently checked for any provider on this page, so no registration number is shown as verified. The contracting legal entity still has to be read off the quotation. That matters where a brand originates an application and another firm is the credit provider, as with Capitec Home Loans and SA Home Loans.
Complaints start with the lender. The National Credit Regulator publishes consumer-credit guidance. Information you enter on a lender's own site is handled by that lender under POPIA. WiT Money does not take an application on these pages.

How WiT Money compared these products
The comparison covers 27 products across vehicle finance, home loans, home-improvement borrowing and property-backed facilities, checked on 28 October 2026. Official product pages were the primary sources. Blank fees were left blank. Personalised rates are labelled personalised.
Toyota Financial Services, BMW Financial Services and a standalone SA Home Loans product were reviewed and are not listed as current products. MFC and WesBank keep their own names and logos rather than being shown as Nedbank or FNB. The default order is the lender's name, then the product. Nothing is sorted as cheapest or best.
No paid placement is active on the buttons. A listed homepage is not an application link invented by WiT Money.
Questions readers ask
What is an instalment sale?
It is the usual South African vehicle-finance agreement. You pay over an agreed term and the vehicle stands as security until the agreement is settled.
What is a balloon payment?
It is a rand amount still owing after the last instalment. The monthly figure is lower because that amount is excluded. It is due at the end.
Does a prime-linked rate stay the same?
No. If prime changes, a linked instalment can change. A fixed rate is the one written into that agreement for the period it covers.
Is comprehensive insurance optional?
The records that mention insurance say it is required or must be verified on the quote. Driving without the cover the agreement requires can be a breach.
Can WiT Money tell me the instalment a bank will offer?
No. The calculator uses the rate, term, deposit, balloon and fees you type. It is not a finance quotation.
