Compare Commercial Vehicle Insurance in South Africa
A private car policy and a commercial vehicle policy are different contracts. Delivery, courier work and e-hailing are not assumed to be covered.
Premiums, excesses, contributions and cover depend on your circumstances and the policy or scheme rules. Confirm the final terms before you buy. Information checked 29 October 2026.
Compare providers
The provider name links to the WiT Money profile where one exists. The gold button opens the recorded website. It is not a quote and not an application.
5 of 5 products, in provider name order. A missing premium, contribution or excess is not shown as zero, and nothing is ranked as cheapest. A filter matches the published line. It does not decide that you qualify.

Estimate with your own figures
Type the amounts you want to test. The result uses those amounts only. It does not fetch a quote, and it does not decide a claim.
How to read this comparison
The vehicle description, the goods carried, the drivers and the radius of use belong on the schedule. A policy for a private car does not become commercial cover because the vehicle is sometimes used for work.
Tracking, a named-driver warranty and an excess for an unnamed driver are common conditions. E-hailing and courier use need their own confirmation.
Private car insurance assumes private use. Once the vehicle delivers goods, carries tools for reward, or is driven by employees, you need a commercial policy or an extension. A claim on the wrong use is the expensive way to learn this.
Goods in or on the vehicle are often a separate section. The bakkie can be insured while the stock on the back is not.
How the cover works
Use
The schedule states the use. Occasional private use may be allowed. Hiring the vehicle out usually is not.
Drivers
Employees need licences that match the vehicle. An open driver basis is not an open invitation to an unlicensed driver.
Goods
Goods-in-transit cover, if you buy it, has limits and excluded goods. Hijacking conditions are strict for a reason.
What to check
Vehicle and use
What it is and what it does all week.
Drivers
Named or open, and the licence requirement.
Goods
Limit per load.
Radius
Some policies limit how far the vehicle may operate.
Risks
- A private policy on a working bakkie.
- Stock left on the back overnight.
- A driver without the right code on their licence.
Claims and complaints
Report a claim to the insurer, scheme or administrator named on your documents, in the way the policy or scheme rules describe. WiT Money does not decide the claim. If you have complained to that organisation and you are still not satisfied, the National Financial Ombud Scheme handles certain financial complaints, and the Council for Medical Schemes handles medical scheme complaints. Take the policy schedule, the rejection letter and the claim documents with you.
How WiT Money compares these products
Products stay in provider name order. A car excess, a funeral benefit, a medical scheme contribution and a pet plan are not sorted against one another. Nothing is ranked as the cheapest. A listed name is not a recommendation, and WiT Money does not sell the policy. Where this site has the provider's logo, it is shown. Otherwise the name is shown without a mark. An FSP number or a scheme registration number is not printed unless the recorded page already states it, and it is not a register check by WiT Money.
Questions readers ask
Can I insure a bakkie on my personal policy if I sometimes carry tools?
Ask the insurer and get the answer in writing. Occasional use and business use are not the same, and the policy will define them.
Are goods on the back covered?
Not automatically. Add goods-in-transit or an equivalent section and read the limit.
Does the policy cover a hired driver?
Only if the driver basis allows it and the driver is licensed. Tell the insurer how the vehicle is driven.
